Kin Kin Chili Pan Mee - The Craze is over

July 30, 2017

Today we went to Kin Kin Chilli Pan Mee around Tai Seng area, a version of dry pan mee that is popular to the working crowds around. Arriving around evening time, the shop was rather quiet and there was only about two or three other tables occupied.

Fuss-free Ordering
Their Signature Homemade Dry Roasted Chilli paste
The ordering system is fuss-free, just write your order on the ordering sheet and bring it to the cashier to order and pay for it. What makes Kin Kin Chilli Pan Mee special is their signature homemade dry roasted chilli paste which you can find on every table.

Signature Noodle
Within 15 minutes of ordering, they served us our orders. Each bowl of noodles came with a bowl of soup with spinach and fish balls. The signature noodles has a egg with a runny yolk, minced meat, ikan billis and dried onions. As for the minced meat noodles, it has the same ingredients as their signature noodles except for the runny eggs.

The fun part starts here! Add the amount of chilli you desire and start mixing all the ingredients together! When the gooey egg yolk oozes out and binds the chilli to the noodles, it makes each bite worth having for. The ikan billis and dried onions added crunchiness to the whole mix. The minced meat they served was very juicy.

Minced Meat Meatball Noodles
For the minced meat meat ball noodles, instead of the thick noodles, thin yellow noodles was served. After mixing the ingredients together, the noodles tend to soak up with all the flavour and releasing it as you bite into it.

Accompanying Soup with spinach and fishball
The soup that they came with the noodles was flavourful however the taste of added MSG in their soup could be tasted really strongly. I felt thirsty after drinking the soup and I ended up finishing my drink before I finished the soup. For the fishball that was in the soup, I feel that they were served were a tad too big. But they did not lack in flavour.

For the price, the portion size was generous enough. And as you add their signature dry roasted chilli to the dish, the flavour of the noodles are elevated! Bringing the whole bowl of noodles alive. The amount of spiciness was just right. However, I feel that the amount of oil that was added to make the chilli paste, could be reduced.

If you are having lunch break in between work around Tai Seng area, Kin Kin Chilli Pan Mee will not be disappointing as it is affordable and worth for the price. They are also currently having a promotion from 3 to 5pm, for each pan mee ordered comes with a complimentary drink!
