Meat and Malts Review - What To Eat In Tai Seng
July 23, 2018We were just in Tai Seng for a workshop when we came across a bistro that piped our interest. Located at the far end of BreadTalk HQ building, it can be a little difficult to spot. Inside, the place is decorated with white and black tiles. It was as if we stepped into a disco bar ready to order a snack or drink.
We decided to sit outdoor where we can enjoy the cool breeze and the greenery. The menu was straight forward and filled with many popular western dishes such as, Steak & Egg, Fish & chips and hot wings.
It didn't took long for our orders to arrive as we were the only customer. (It was 11am and they were just opened for business) The spread looks appetizing and we wasted no time to dig in before they turn cold.
Spicy Red Bull SGD 9.80 |
The hot wings was an absolute delight. The homemade sauce has this combination of hot sauce and ketchup. The meat was mildly sweet and combined with an addicting spiciness from the sauce makes us go for second and third bite. As we are writing this, we still can't forget the complex flavour and how it still lingers on our mind.
Fish and Chip SGD 15.80 |
The fish and chips was a bargain for its price tag. The hard and crispy batter makes a great contrast from the tender fish. As we slice across the fish, it unveils a juicy and succulent meat . It pairs well with either tar tar sauce or malted vinegar. The only bit lacking was that the fish was a little under season. Other than that, we enjoy the dish very much.
Striploin Steak & Egg SGD 24.80 |
The steak and egg was alright. The steak was served with your choice of brown sauce or black pepper sauce. For extra creaminess, we dip the steak in egg yolk and enjoyed the steak that way. The meat was fork knife tender and the sear on the surface makes the steak extremely flavorful. However, there was this odd smell that probably was because we had gotten old meat.
Overall, we like this place and wouldn't mind to revisit again. Simple food with a good enough service, Meat and Malt is an excellent place to hang out with friends or after a hard day at work.
