All You Can Eat Wagyu Beef - Gyuu+ Yakiniku Grill @ Emporium Shokuhin

Gyuu Yakiniku Grill Buffet

Nowadays, it’s hard to find quality beef at an affordable price. Ordering a 200g Rib Eye in a steak house can set you back to SGD 20-30. It’s even more expensive if you visit an all-you-can-eat buffet. Here at Gyuu + Yakiniku Grill @ Emporium shokuhin, they serve the finest and most premium meat at an reasonable price. So you can eat your heart out without burning a hole in your pocket.

The Dinning Area

After we have settled down, I looked around, trying to find a menu or a paper to write down our orders. The waiter kindly informed us to use the ipad to order our food… technology is changing the world indeed. The food selection was quite well balanced but I wish there was more dessert choices.

Definitely the first thing to dive right into is the meat! Considering that their name has ‘yakiniku’ in it - which means ‘grilled meat’ in Japanese.

For the first round, we ordered a few cuts of beef. My favorite was the A5 Miyazaki Shi Shi Beef. And let me tell you guys, it was buttery and fatty and very delicious. The meat takes second to cook and literally melts in your mouth. Believe me, you don’t even need to chew that much. Also, if you let it stays in the grill long enough, you’ll get crispy beef bacon. Isn’t that amazing?

On the side of the table, you will find salt and pepper. For thicker cuts of meat like the sirloin and ribeye steak, it’s better to season them lightly to bring out the essence of the meat. Likewise, you can choose to dip the meat in the yakiniku sauce.

Scallop

Shishamo and Salmon marinated in sake and soy sauce
Personally, I enjoyed the Japanese scallop the most. The taste was clean and bright - a good indication that the scallop was fresh. The salmon was marinated in sake and soy sauce. It’s was tasty but I did not like it as the alcohol taste lingers in my mouth. I would not recommend the shishamo as it got stuck to the grill and it break easily. The squid was just okay - essentially flavourless. Pair it with yakiniku sauce if you ever order it.

Grill your own
Just to note that since this is a do-it-yourself barbeque, the doneness of the meat depend on your timing. Also, the fat from the meat will drip down to the burner and causing it to spark big flame. Bring someone who is not afraid of fire to do the cooking if you are afraid of fire.

Salmon Miso Soup and White Rice

The miso soup was a delight on its own. It did not taste like those instant packet you buy from the supermarket. I was pleasantly surprised to also find chunk of salmon meat in my soup. I believe it is for flavouring the soup. The soup warms our stomach and allows us to eat some more meat. It is still about getting your money’s worth when you come here!

Black Sesame Ice Cream and Matcha Ice Cream
We tried the sesame and matcha ice cream, where both ice creams have a creamy texture. The sesame ice cream has a rich deep roasted sesame flavour which brings out its natural earthy nutty taste. The Matcha ice cream does not taste like the typical ice cream we can eat outside. The texture is very creamy and has a thick consistency. It does not have a sharp bitter matcha aftertaste and it leaves a mild hint of milky matcha flavour lingering in your taste buds.

The ice cream has such a smooth and creamy texture that it seems like they made their own in-house ice cream, which might really be the case as it does not has the presence of small ice crystals, which is very common in tub ice cream. Overall, we enjoyed the ice cream a lot and found that it was something unique!

Both the food and the service were beyond our expectation. Once in awhile, it’s good to treat yourself and indulge in luxury food. The buffet is little on the pricey side but not to worry, you can get 50% off when you reserve though eatigo app!

Expected damage per person: SGD 65

Overall, a ‘Eat Your Heart Out’ Two Ninja Star
