Cafe Football Singapore Food Review

February 19, 2018

Fancy a football game? If you are a football lover, there's a place in Singapore where you can chill, hang out, watch football game and enjoy good food. It's been a long while since we had good American food. The only problem we encountered was trying to locate the cafe, With a little help from Google Map, it doesn't seem like much of a big deal.

The place was unusually quiet for a Sunday evening. But given it's location, we find that forgivable. A myriad of sitting arrangements from bar tables to tables set, we had the pleasure to sit at one of these cozy sofa table close to the window. Once seated, we quickly settle down and order our food with the ease of using an iPad order system. As we wait for the food to arrive, we immerse ourself in conversation, soaking in the beautiful weather and accompany.

Team Platter - Satay Skewers, Corn Chip, Crispy Jumbo Shrimp, Fried Chicken Wings, Salad and Dipping Sauce (SGD 18++)

First to arrive on the table was the team platter. Plenty for two to enjoy. The satay smell ridiculously delicious. However, it taste like a regular satay with peanut sauce. We would be more intrigued if they incorporate more american flavors into the satay meat (like buffalo satay with blue cheese sauce). Most worth-noting component on the platter was the crispy jumbo shrimp. It’s huge in size. The exterior was super crunchy and the meat was sweet and bouncy. It tastes even better with tartar sauce or the sambal sauce that was given .

Lamb Shank with Mash Potato and Salad (SGD 18++)

The lamb shank was our favorite part of the meal. The meat was tender and the sauce was extremely flavourful. It’s a very simple dish that was executed perfectly. Lamb that is fork-tender and doesn’t taste and smell gamey at all. It literally melts in my mouth when I start chewing the meat. The lamb shank comes with a hearty portion of creamy and buttery mashed potatoes with an appropriate amount of chunk that you can tell is homemade (and not those nasty powdered mashed potatoes). The salad helps to counterbalance the oiliness from the shank and the cream from the mash potato.  I like the dish a lot and would come back just for the lamb shank.

Team Burger: Beef Patties with chicken bacon strip, mushroom, caramelize onion, cheese and tomato slice (SGD 18++)

The burger comes in a dish that looks like a burger box but much more sturdy which is rather interesting. Overall, the burger was good. After tasting the lamb shank we were pretty confident that the burger is going to taste nice. You can’t go too wrong with cheese, mushroom, bacon, caramelized onions and tomato. The bun was my favorite part of the burger. It was soft and delicate, almost like a brioche bun. I was kind of disappointed when I wasn’t ask to select the doneness for the beef patty. However, the meat retained most of its moisture and it’s pretty juicy for a “well-done” meat. It would be great to add some greens in the burger to counteract the heaviness from the cheese and buttery bun.

Everything we had tasted felt freshly made and we really enjoyed our stay here at Cafe Football. The food was decently priced and value for money. Great for those who want to enjoy quality time and eat good American food.
