The courses are heavily subsidy by the government and Singaporean can make use of their SkillsFuture Credit to offset the fees. In addition, the school have courses to help individuals that are interested to operate or open a restaurant. It is a good stepping stone as the school have connection with professional chefs where the school invites them over to teach and guide you step-by-step. Most students in ACI are young teens, adults to elderly.

SSA Culinary Institute is more known for their baking classes but have recently included more hot cooking classes to attract wider audience.

At-Sunrice Global Chef Acadamy is an all-inclusive culinary school that is well known for their facilities and international chefs. They don't cost cheap as they are an independent school. In the 18-month study and work diploma program, you learn fundamental cooking skills, kitchen operation and service. To graduate, you need to work 6 month at a restaurant as their internship module. This is when you can gain actual work experience and insight of what your future behold. This school is strongly recommended for those who aspire to become a chef. Since the school is affiliated to other universities in the world that has hospitality degree and master programmes, it is beneficial to those who want to pursue a higher degree of education after diploma.

SHATEC is a culinary school that is similar to At-Sunrice Global Chef Academy. To compare the both school, At- Sunrice Global Chef Academy is newer and have better facilities, and also due the the affiliations to other hospitality universities in the world - their certificate is more global recognized. Although with that said, SHATEC diploma program, in our opinion, is better. It's more in-depth, diverse and more appealing. The certificate is more locally recognized. Most trainers here are veterans who have retired from the professional kitchen world. We like how the school aggressively sends their student for cooking competition. This aids in the student learning and it looks great on the resume. SHATEC students are highly sought as many famous chef graduated from here.

Culinary Institution of America has many campus around the world. One of which is based in the Singapore Institute Technology (SIT) campus in Singapore. This is the closest degree program you can get in Singapore if you want to pursue a culinary bachelor degree locally. It's perfect to those who wish to become a professional chef. This is where you can hone your culinary skill and learn other skills relating to hospitality industry like wine tasting, bartender, menu planning and business management. It is a fast pace program that is not suitable for everyone. The school strategically compact three years worth of curriculum into two. All these is to test your ability to handle under stress as you need to apply that in the working environment. Many undergraduate have tasted certain success in their career. With this, they are on the fast track to career progression.

If you develop an interest for both management and kitchen role but are unsure on what to choose, Nanyang Polytechnic culinary course probably suit you the best. In year 1, you are given equal opportunity to try out front and back of house of restaurant operation. During this period, you have plenty of time to decide which path to follow. The school is well known for their business curriculum but not so on culinary.

We have both graduated from a culinary school 4 years ago and currently working in the F&B industry. I believe that this post will help you into deciding which school is most suitable and beneficial to you.

Citrus Bistro Review | Food at Sengkang Swimming Complex

Citrus Bistro is a good spot to eat, relax and chill after a day of swimming. Located just inside the premises of the swimming pool, it's probably the only place to get food. Once inside, we felt as though we were on a beach house listening to waves crashing on shore and children laughing and having fun. The decor was on point and I'm pretty sure the cafe looks even better at night with the lights on.

Citrus is more of a "help-yourself" cafe (they don't have 10% service charge!) We went in, order from the cashier and find our own seat. Also, be prepared to wait slightly longer when the pool gets crowded. 15 minutes in, our food arrives and it looks scrumptious and appetizing.

Grilled Free-Range Chicken 14.90

Grilled Free-Range Chicken was a well balanced, flavorful dish. The chicken was accompanied with garden vegetables such as corn, mushroom and broccoli. The different texture from the greens makes a good pairing with the tender chicken. The meat was showered with homemade brown sauce. The hint of sour note from the sauce complements the chicken very well. Overall, a guilt-free dish that is worth trying.

Seafood Aglio Olio SGD 14.90

Seafood Aglio Olio was a let-down. It didn't have the garlic nor the seafood aroma that we were looking for. We had to add salt and pepper to flavour the noodles. The seafood were alright. It was bland but cooked just right. The dish was flat and it wasn't worth the money.

Little Boss SGD 14.90

Little Boss was essentially homemade burger served alongside with potato wedges. The meat was slathered in satay sauce and stacked with freshly cut vegetables, caramelized onions and purple cabbage slaw. The patty was glistering in its natural juices and the sauce helps to keep the meat moist. However, we felt that the meat was hard to swallow. It could be that they did not remove the connective tissue causing it to be chewy. Generally, a tasty burger with many bold flavors that blends well together.

Lastly, we treated ourselves with some assorted cakes. The oden-oden cake was nice. The flavour was very subtle and the butter frosting isn't overly sweet. However we note that the sponge cake was a little dry. Other than that, a great tasting cake.

We were excited of the paddlepop cake because it looks very colorful and inviting. First bite and we could tell that it was just cheese cake. We could not go past three mouthful because the taste was too repetitive. The color were just food dyes, nothing more.

We like Citrus Bistro for it's decent food. However, to access to the restaurant, we had to call to get administration in to the swimming pool. It was slightly troublesome as no one was picking up the phone. In the end, we ended buying the pool ticket to get to the restaurant.
